Six-foot-4, 225-pound outside linebacker Chris Weatherd (Athens, Texas/Trinity Valley CC) has elected to continue his career at Tennessee, multiple sources report.

Weatherd selected the Volunteers over scholarship offers from Iowa State, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Monroe, North Texas, Oklahoma, South Florida and Texas State.

He is the cousin of former Oklahoma Sooner and current Denver Broncos defensive end Jeremy Beal.

With the addition of Weatherd, Tennessee now has 15 pledges for 2014. The Vols currently hold the nation's sixth-best class according to the ESPN RecruitingNation rankings.
