2014 S Jalen Williams picks Pittsburgh

Rising senior safety Jalen Williams (Newburgh, N.Y./Free Academy) competed in a Pittsburgh camp on Thursday, took a tour of the campus on Friday and committed to the Panthers' coaching staff before heading home, RecordOnline.com reports.

"It was very exciting, I was pumped," Williams told the website. "I think the coaches were blown away when I told them. I don't think they expected me to make my decision. This is definitely a stress reliever. I don't have to worry about going to anymore camps or talking to coaches. I can't wait to be a part of the program."

Buffalo, Massachusetts, Old Dominion, Syracuse and Temple also extended scholarship offers to Williams. He claimed additional interest from Boston College, Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Houston, Illinois, Maryland, NC State, Penn State, Rutgers and Virginia.

Williams posted an electronically timed 4.99 40-yard dash, 4.60 20-yard shuttle, 30.4-inch vertical, 36-foot power throw and 59.25 SPARQ rating at a Nike combine.

Last season, the 6-foot-1, 182-pound prospect recorded 56 tackles and five interceptions, earning a first team Class AA All-State selection.
