UA Game jersey tour: Tre' Williams

Senior linebacker Tre’ Williams (Mobile, Ala./St. Paul’s Episcopal) was presented his honorary game jersey Tuesday during the American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the 2014 Under Armour All-America Game. The event was part of a three-month jersey tour.

Williams, An Auburn commitment, is one of 90 players selected to compete in the seventh annual Under Armour All-America Game, a nationally televised game featuring the country’s top high school seniors. The game is set for 4 p.m. ET Jan. 2 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., and will be televised on ESPN.

“First off, I would like to thank God for giving me the ability to play the game of football, the game I love,” Williams said. “I would like to thank my family for all the support through all my years, and I would like to thank the coaching staff for teaching how to play the game of football.”

Williams is humbled by being selected to the game.

“It feels great to be an All-American, to have that title. It humbles me a lot, because that means a lot of people watching me throughout the rest of my high school year and when I go to college.”

The 6-foot-2, 217-pound Williams is the No. 88 prospect overall in the ESPN 300 and the No. 5 inside linebacker in the class. He committed to Auburn over Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Ole Miss and others.

Playing with and against the best in Lake Buena Vista will be key for Williams when looking at how he needs to prepare for the next level.

“Playing against great players like this, then I will understand how it will be in college and how I need to prepare, so I’m very excited that I’ve been selected for this game. It makes me feel special and blessed that I get to follow in great players' footsteps, and that has always been my dream to become one of those players,” he said.
