Big 12 recruiting scorecard

The latest in Big 12 country as the summer camp circuit continues:

BAYLOR

Total commits: 11

ESPN 300 commits: 5

The latest: Baylor found another big-time sleeper at receiver in Mesquite Horn's Jared Atkinson and added a long-awaited pledge on Sunday from DT Bravvion Roy. In both cases, the Bears beat out Texas Tech for their latest commitments. Atkinson caught just 10 passes in his junior season but has been a camp standout this summer.

IOWA STATE

Total commits: 0

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: The fact Iowa State still hasn't picked up a commitment for 2016 remains concerning, though the Cyclones could see their first one in the near future as the staff extends its efforts across the country. They recently held a satellite camp in Florida that resulted in an offer for Frostproof, Florida, OG Michael Smith Jr., and ISU is expected to hold camps in Texas as well.

KANSAS

Total commits: 5

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: Kansas got one of the Kansas City area's top junior recruits to camp last week, and DaRon Davis did not disappoint. The 2017 receiver from Hogan Prep was one of the stars of the Jayhawks' camp and already has an early offer from Missouri. He's expected to camp at Florida State and Arkansas later this summer.

KANSAS STATE

Total commits: 2

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: K-State was one of several schools that hosted a group of rising recruits from Houston-area powerhouse Manvel High last week. Though OG Mackenzie Nworah ended up committing to Missouri soon after seeing KSU, the Wildcats could still end up having a chance with DE Hasuan Glasgow and also hosted RB D'Vaughn Pennamon and 2017 S Derrick Tucker.

OKLAHOMA

Total commits: 6

ESPN 300 commits: 1

The latest: The Sooners went 2-for-3 on offensive linemen this week, landing commitments from juco OT Quinn Mittermeier and in-state OG Logan Roberson. Mittermeier, a standout at Butler (Kansas) C.C., picked Oklahoma over Florida a day after Roberson made the call. Despite once being considered a leader for his services, OU did miss out on coveted Texas OT Kellen Diesch, who pledged to Arkansas over the weekend.

OKLAHOMA STATE

Total commits: 7

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: The Cowboys' latest commitment comes from OT Teven Jenkins, an interesting 6-foot-6 lineman out of Topeka, Kansas. He turned down offers from Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas State and Louisville to go with the Pokes, becoming their first O-line pledge of 2016.

TCU

Total commits: 13

ESPN 300 commits: 5

The latest: TCU is still looking to load up on game-changing receivers for its Air Raid offense and hosted two committed recruits on Friday that are worth keeping an eye on: Texas A&M WR commit Kendrick Rogers and Texas Tech commit Derrick Willies. Rogers is nearly 6-foot-5 and was a star at TCU's skill camp, and the Frogs could make a push for Willies, a juco standout who previously played at Iowa.

TEXAS

Total commits: 5

ESPN 300 commits: 2

The latest: After losing key ESPN 300 DE/LB target Erick Fowler to LSU on Saturday, Texas hosted three big-time defensive linemen at their Sunday camp: DT Marcel Southall, DT Ross Blacklock and DE/LB Rahssan Thornton. Blacklock and Thornton landed Texas offers on Sunday, but the Horns are in for a battle with each. They might have a better shot with Thornton, who now has UT and LSU at the top of his list.

TEXAS TECH

Total commits: 17

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: Four new commitments makes for a pretty darn good week in Texas Tech recruiting. The Red Raiders secured pledges from OLB Johnathan Picone, CB Damarcus Fields and DE Houston Miller and also found a kicker in Jackson Smith, a preferred walk-on. They've now surpassed TCU to lead the Big 12 in commitments for 2016.

WEST VIRGINIA

Total commits: 10

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: Making the trip to West Virginia paid off big for Byesville, Ohio OG Josh Sills, who committed immediately after being offered by the Mountaineers on Sunday. Sills landed that offer soon after earning offensive line MVP honors at WVU's camp. In choosing WVU, he turned down a list of six other offers that included Michigan.
