Jarrett Guarantano, Dwayne Haskins bring their 'A-game' at The Opening

BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Quarterbacks took center stage Monday at The Opening with the first day of the Elite 11 competition. The 18 quarterbacks from all over the country took their turns at impressing both on and off the field.

It became clear right away Monday that the quarterbacks weren't in for a normal day of just throwing the football around the field as Penn State quarterback and camp counselor Christian Hackenberg and Georgia quarterback commit Jacob Eason quickly found out.

Finally, the quarterbacks were able to do what they do best Monday morning and it became clear right away that several quarterbacks brought their A-game. One of those quarterbacks was Tennessee commit Jarrett Guarantano.

Even though he's ranked as the second-best pocket-passing quarterback, Maryland commitment Dwayne Haskins Jr. wanted to earn the No. 1 spot at The Opening. With the way he played on Monday, there's a good chance he might make that happen.

Ahead of Haskins in the rankings is Eason, and the 6-foot-5, 210-pounder didn't disappoint on Monday.

Guarantano wasn't the only Volunteer that looked good. Current Tennessee quarterback and camp counselor Joshua Dobbs looked tremendous in the morning session, giving Vols fans two reasons to be excited about their future.

Dillon Sterling-Cole is one of the few uncommitted quarterbacks at The Opening, and he proved why a number of top programs are chasing his commitment. Sterling-Cole, who will announce his top five schools at The Opening, was tremendous all day Monday, and this is just one example of how he put the ball on the money.

Ole Miss commit Shea Patterson entered the Elite 11 as the third-ranked pocket passing quarterback and his performance Monday did nothing to dispel those thoughts.
