          Best of the college football recruiting visits: Big 12

          Even though Oklahoma wasn’t at home, the Sooners' road victory over Tennessee sent shockwaves through the recruiting world. Here’s a look at what recruits thought about the Sooners’ 31-24 overtime win over the Vols, and a social media-driven look at some other Big 12 recruiting visits.

          The headline of the weekend in Big 12 country was the Sooners’ come-from-behind victory over the Volunteers. The initial reaction from recruits was similar to the Sooners' play through the first three quarters -- ugly. But as OU mounted its comeback, the feedback from prospects quickly changed, and by the end of the game, many were excited by what they saw from the Sooners.

          ESPN 300 linebacker Bryce Youngquist of Rancho Cucamonga (California) Los Osos is OU’s second-ranked commit in the 2016 class, and he loved how the Sooners were able to rally and never give up.

          Top-ranked OU pledge Austin Kendall, the nation’s No. 8 pocket-passing quarterback, didn’t need a lot of words to express his excitement about the Sooners’ victory. Neither did Sooners' offensive line commitment Logan Robinson.

          After a tough road loss at Notre Dame, Texas rebounded with a resounding home victory against Rice. The Longhorns used the opportunity in Austin to host a number of top local prospects, including recent Houston decommitment and ESPN 300 defensive lineman Jordan Elliott. Elliott called his visit to Austin “great” and plans on making another return trip to the Forty Acres later in the season.

          Texas also played host to one of the nation’s top 2018 prospects, defensive end Max Wright from Katy (Texas) Taylor. Wright already had offers from Baylor, Duke, Georgia, Houston, Missouri and Texas A&M, but after Saturday the Longhorns joined in with an offer.

          Kansas wasn’t able to come away with a victory over Memphis, but the Jayhawks did come out of the weekend with a commitment from 2017 running back Dominic Williams of Dallas Parish Episcopal School. He committed Saturday, after picking up a scholarship offer from the Jayhawks last Sunday.

          Defensive tackle Jamahl Johnson of Prior Lake (Minnesota) High School was able to check out Iowa State this weekend for the Cyclones’ game against rival Iowa. He walked away from the visit with an offer from the Cyclones.

          And while TCU didn’t have a large group of prospects in town for the Horned Frogs’ 70-7 victory over Stephen F. Austin, they did play host to 2018 prospect Cameron Flowers of Sache (Texas) High School.
