          Best of the college football recruiting visits: Big Ten

          With high school playoff games going on, it didn’t set up for a big recruiting visit weekend in the Big Ten. That doesn’t mean there weren’t important visitors taking in Saturday’s games, though. Here is a look at some of the visitors within the conference:

          The Michigan State Spartans hosted the highest-ranked prospects in ESPN 300 running back George Hill and ESPN 300 linebacker Daelin Hayes.

          Hayes has narrowed his list to Michigan State, Notre Dame and Ohio State, and plans on deciding in the near future. This visit was important for both Hayes and Hill, and if all goes well, this weekend could produce commitments from both prospects.

          The staff had a few other recruits on hand, including 2017 Nathan Umlor.

          There aren’t many spots available in the 2016 class for Michigan State, despite losing a few commitments this past week. There is room for some of the bigger targets on the board, though, so it should be an interesting few months in East Lansing.

          The Iowa Hawkeyes remained undefeated after beating Minnesota in an exciting night game at home. It gave the staff a chance to show recruits an outstanding atmosphere, which included the sight of Iowa going 10-0 for the first time in program history.

          Jaevon McQuitty, a 2017 target, was in attendance to see the game in person.

          Another 2017 prospect, offensive lineman Curtis Blackwell, tweeted about his experience at the game as well.

          Rutgers didn’t come away with a win over Nebraska, but there were quite a few recruits in attendance for the game.

          That included 2016 lineman Corey Brown.

          Ja'Sir Taylor, another 2016 prospect, was also in attendance for the game.

          The Illinois staff is fighting to keep their jobs as interim coach Bill Cubit has been trying to push the team forward. While Illinois didn’t win against Ohio State on Saturday, the staff did emphasize that the team has shown improvement each week.

          Part of improving is landing talent to help take the program in the right direction, and there were a few prospects on hand to see the game.

          Bryce Banks, a 2016 prospect, tweeted about his time in Champaign.

          Offensive lineman Airon Servais also shared that he enjoyed himself while on the visit.
