Instant impact recruit: Clemson's Tee Higgins

Which incoming ACC freshmen will make major contributions for their team in 2017? The ACC blog picks the recruit most likely to make the biggest impact for each team.

Next up, the defending champs at Clemson.

Recruit: Tee Higgins, No. 2 WR

Stars: Four

Why he’ll make an impact: Clemson needs to replace ample talent on offense, but while Travis Etienne will get playing time at running back and Hunter Johnson will compete for the starting QB job, Higgins looks to be the player most ready to immediately step in and fill a big vacancy.

At 6-foot-5, 191 pounds, Higgins is an inviting target in the mold of Mike Williams — with both size and speed — and figures to be a matchup nightmare. Williams saw 145 targets last season, and Higgins is in position to pick up a big chunk of those in 2017.

Background: Had 68 catches for 1,044 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior, with three more TDs as a punt returner and one on an interception.

Coach quote: “He’s one of the most talented kids I’ve ever seen on a football field.” -- Clemson coach Dabo Swinney on watching Higgins play in high school.
