Parker, Funk lead Marist past Manhattan 78-63

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Brian Parker and Ryan Funk scored 17 points apiece and Marist cruised to a 78-63 victory over Manhattan on Tuesday night.

Parker's scoring effort moved him into seventh place on the Red Foxes all-time list. The senior guard added six rebounds and four assists, and is now 14 points shy of sixth place. Funk finished with a season-high point total by knocking down 5 of 8 from 3-point range. Freshman Darius Hines had 15 points and David Knudsen and Aleksandar Dozic both scored 11. Marist (6-8, 1-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) shot 56 percent from the floor, 53 percent from distance and made 24 of 31 free throws (77 percent).

Knudsen scored all 11 of his points in the first half and Marist used a 20-2 run to take a 43-26 lead at intermission. Thomas Capuano's 3-pointer with 10:59 left to play pulled the Jaspers (3-12, 1-2) within 50-44, but Hines hit a jumper and Funk sank two straight 3-pointers to push the Red Foxes' lead back to nine and Manhattan never threatened again.

Marist, which leads the MAAC in 3-point shooting defense (.356), held the Jaspers to 32 percent (8 of 25).

Nehemiah Mack was the lone Jasper in double figures with 17 points.
