Rice scores 27 to lead The Citadel past Marist 79-75

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Kaiden Rice had 27 points and Eddie Davis III threw down a dunk for the go-ahead score as The Citadel edged Marist 79-75 in a tightly contested game on Saturday night.

Neither team led by more than four points over the final 16 minutes and the last tie was 75-all with 1:14 remaining.

After Marist missed a 3-pointer, Davis scored on a second-chance dunk to give The Citadel a 77-75 lead with 23 seconds to go. Marist's Michael Cubbage missed in the paint with five seconds left and Alex Reed capped the win by making two free throws with four seconds remaining.

Eddie Davis had 14 points and seven rebounds for The Citadel (2-4). Fletcher Abee added 11 points and Rudy Fitzgibbons III had 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Tyler Sagl had 15 points for the Red Foxes (1-3). Matthew Herasme added 15 points and nine rebounds and Jordan Jones had 12 points for the Red Foxes.

The Citadel plays Brevard College at home on Tuesday. Marist plays Army at home next Saturday.
