Irish PRO14 side Munster have confirmed the arrival at training of Bulls centre Dries Swanepoel, who will provide injury cover in the coming weeks, subject to him being awarded a work permit.

Head coach Johann van Graan knows the centre well, and having been deemed surplus to requirements at the Bulls this season, is ready to give him a chance in European rugby after foot injuries to Chris Farrell and fellow South African Jaco Taute.

"It is envisaged the 25-year-old will join the province as injury cover on a short-term loan signing, subject to being granted a valid work permit," Munster confirmed on their website.

Swanepoel was developed at the famous Grey College in Bloemfontein, but having made his professional debut in 2013, has not secured a regular place in the Bulls side. He is also a South African Under-20 international.

Munster beat the Southern Kings 39-22 in their PRO14 fixture at the weekend and are training this week in Cape Town ahead of their clash with the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Friday night.

They could all but seal second place in the PRO14 Conference A with a win over the Cheetahs, who are chasing them in third place, six points behind.
