Lock Alun Wyn Jones and flank Justin Tipuric scored two tries each as the Ospreys ran out convincing 46-14 winners over the Cheetahs from South Africa in their PRO14 fixture at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

The Welsh side led 22-7 at half-time and ran in seven tries in all as hooker Scott Otten, wing George North and prop Alex Jeffries also crossed for tries in what was a dominant forward display from the Ospreys.

The Cheetahs were able to match their opponents in the opening 20 minutes, but faded in the contest as they managed tries from number eight Jasper Wiese and wing Sibhale Maxwane.

The Ospreys made it two wins from two home games this season, while for the Cheetahs it was a second successive loss on the road.

The home side were in front when captain Tipuric fed the ball inside for Wyn Jones to score his first, but the Cheetahs replied when they showed forward muscle from an attacking lineout and Wiese eventually crossed.

North then showed all his power as he burst through a number of Cheetahs tackles before being brought to ground, with Otten picking up the ball and driving over the line.

North added the third try before the break when he crossed out wide, before flyhalf Sam Davies added a penalty just before half-time.

It took 20 minutes into the second period for the next score when Jeffries barged over for his first PRO14 try after incessant pressure from the hosts, and four minutes later Tipuric got his first after a driving maul set him up for the finish.

The Cheetahs grabbed a consolation when Maxwane raced over, but the Ospreys' superiority in the pack showed as Tipuric and Wyn Jones crossed for further scores in the final 10 minutes.
