Top seeds Kenya and Uganda have comfortably qualified for the quarterfinals of the ongoing Rugby Africa 7s Cup in Jammel, Tunisia.

The two teams that played at the 2018 Gold Cost Commonwealth Games and the World Cup in the United States won all their group games on Saturday ahead of the knockout stage on Sunday.

Kenya's Shujaa kickstarted with a 49-0 win over Botswana, before winning their second game 41-0 against Morocco.

In the first game Daniel Taabu and Michael Wanjala picked two tries each and Leonard Mugaisi got one, while Taabu scored all the conversions in the first half. On resumption Alvin Otieno and Derrick Keyoga each scored a try.

In their second game against Morocco it was Derrick Keyoga who was the star with three tries, while Daniel Taabu, Charles Owino and Cyprian Kuto dotted down a try each. Taabu added the conversions.

"I am very happy with the performances today. We look forward to the quarterfinal where we face Zambia on Sunday," said Kenya coach Innocent Simiyu.

Defending champions Uganda Rugby Cranes, who face Tunisia in the knockout stage, humbled Ghana 45-0 in the opening Group B game before defeating Senegal 31-0.

Zimbabwe and Madagascar were also in good form when they kept unbeaten runs in Group C and D respectively. The Zimbabwe team will take on Senegal at the quarterfinal stage, while Masagascar battle Morocco.

The Rugby Africa 7s competition, which also doubles as a pre-qualifier for the 2020 Olympics, is organised by Rugby Africa.
