Pujals fires 5 TDs, Holy Cross thrashes New Hampshire, 51-26
WORCESTER, Mass. -- Peter Pujals threw five touchdown passes, two to Martin Dorsey, and Holy Cross pummeled New Hampshire, 51-26 in a nonconference battle and the Crusaders' home opener Saturday.
A year ago Pujals set a school record by connecting on 42 of 64 pass attempts for three touchdowns against New Hampshire. This time he connected on just 21 of 39 attempts for 367 yards.
Trevor Knight got New Hampshire (2-1, 1-0 Colonial) on the board first with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Neil O'Connor, but Holy Cross answered with the first of A.J. Wells' three first-half field goals, this one from 46-yards out.
Pujals hit Dorsey from 14-yards out to give the Crusaders (2-1, 1-0 Patriot) the lead for good and Wells hit from 29- and 37-yards to make it 16-7 at the half. Pujals capped his day with an 86-yard stroke to Dorsey to make it 51-19 with 6:43 left.
