Huslig's 2 TD passes leads Missouri St over S Illinois 36-28

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Peyton Huslig went 15 of 29 for 265 yards with two touchdown passes -- including a 26-yard go-ahead strike to Erik Furmanek with just over 8 minutes left -- and Missouri State topped Southern Illinois 36-28 on Saturday.

Missouri State (3-6, 2-4 Missouri Valley Conference) built a 24-7 first-quarter lead, but Southern Illinois (4-5, 2-4) picked up a 47-yard touchdown pass from Tanner Hearn to D.J. Davis at the start of the fourth quarter to go up 28-27.

On its next possession, Missouri State went 73 yards on nine plays to retake the lead. The Bears added a 31-yard Zach Drake field goal with 56 seconds remaining to ice it.

Jason Randall carried 16 times for 139 yards with a TD for Missouri State, while Malik Earl caught four passes for 119 yards with a score.

Hearn finished 13 for 22 for 180 yards with three touchdown passes and an interception. Davis caught nine passes for 130 yards.
