        Lokeren ended Group L leaders Legia Warsaw's 100 per cent Europa League record with an impressive win - but it was not enough to keep their qualification hopes alive.Hans Vanaken's seventh-minute goal settled the match in the hosts' favour.But Trabzonspor beat Metalist Kharkiv 3-1 to remain three points ahead of Peter Maes' side, with the crucial head-to-head advantage in their favour. Legia had won their first four games in the group and began this one on the front foot, Lukasz Broz firing wide in the sixth minute.Lokeren, though, swept straight down the other end to alleviate the early pressure and take the lead. Junior Dutra's cross was allowed to bounce across the penalty area and Vanaken crashed it home at the far post.The lanky Vanaken sent a 20-yard effort off target before Ayanda Patosi forced a save from visiting keeper Dusan Kuciak from similar range.Lokeren's Alexander Scholz and Legia's Tomasz Jodlowiec failed to test the opposing keepers from distance but Boubacar Barry made his first save of the night when Guilherme's right-wing free-kick curled towards goal.Jodlowiec fired over and Orlando Sa shot wide, leaving Legia still one goal in arrears at the interval.Kilian Overmeire shot over before Dutra's effort was blocked by Kuciak as the Belgians sought to finish the game off early in the second period. Legia's Ondrej Duda shot over from close range while Nill de Pauw's header for Lokeren was also too high.Barry saved from first Marek Saganowski and then Duda to preserve his side's lead.Patosi shot wide before he was substituted and his replacement Jordan Remacle fired over.Legia were searching for an equaliser but Michal Kucharczyk's effort went wide and when Jakub Rzezniczak fired over, their last chance was gone.ends

          KSC Lokeren 1-1 Trabzonspor

          Trabzonspor held Lokeren to a 1-1 draw in Belgium to improve their chances of making it into the knockout stages of the Europa League.With Legia Warsaw through and Metalist Kharkiv without a point from four games, the battle for the other qualification spot in Group L will come down to these two.And the Turkish side are three points clear of their rivals from East Flanders after Abdul Majeed Waris cancelled out Ayanda Patosi's early goal.Lokeren got off to the best possible start as they went ahead after just five minutes through Patosi.Visitng goalkeeper Fatih Ozturk did well to save the South African's initial shot but Patosi managed to squirm the rebound home.The goal was the only action of the opening stages with neither side managing to stamp their authority on the encounter and a long-range Kevin Constant shot was all that Trabzonspor could offer in way of reply.Mustapha Yatabare was next to miss the target with the hosts responding with a spell of pressure but they could not produce a clear-cut chance in a flat opening half-hour.Waris at last brought a save from Boubacar Barry but it was Lokeren who looked the most likely to add to their lead as Koen Persoons and Patosi both missed the target with Junior Dutra bringing a save out of Ozturk.And they were made to pay as the visitors equalised in first-half stoppage-time against the run of play when Yatabare saw a powerful strike saved by Barry and Waris was there to tuck home the rebound.The opening stages of the second half proved as cagey as the first with neither side creating any real chances as both defences stood firm.When a chance did come, it fell to Yatabare but Barry did well to tip his close-range shot round the post just after the hour mark.Patosi then saw a shot saved and another one blocked but neither side could find a winner as a lacklustre encounter petered out.ends

            Trabzonspor 2-0 KSC Lokeren

            Trabzonspor pulled clear in second place in Group L with a 2-0 Europa League victory over Lokeren.The Turkish side took the lead nine minutes into the second half through Mustapha Yatabare and made sure of the points four minutes from time thanks to a goal from Kevin Constant.Trabzonspor now sit three points behind leaders Legia Warsaw and three ahead of Belgians Lokeren.The visitors made the better start and Koen Persoons had the first decent opening in the eighth minute but missed the target with his effort.It was a similar story midway through the half, this time Besart Abdurahimi the man to spurn the opportunity.Trabzonspor became more of a threat as the game went on and Constant tested Boubacar Barry in the Lokeren goal with a shot in the 34th minute.The hosts picked up where they left off after the break and in the 54th minute they got their reward with a goal to take the lead.It looked like the chance might have gone when Majeed Waris saw his effort blocked but from the resulting corner Mehmet Ekici picked out the head of Yatabare, who powered an unstoppable header into the net.And, rather than Lokeren threatening a comeback, it was Trabzonspor who looked to add to their advantage.In the 74th minute, Oscar Cardozo, part of the Benfica team beaten in the last two Europa League finals, was denied by Barry, and from the corner Yatabare saw his shot blocked.Lokeren substitute Junior Dutra had a rare chance for Lokeren four minutes later but his shot was comfortable for Fatih Ozturk.In the 86th minute, Trabzonspor made the game safe as Constant took Jose Bosingwa's pass and squeezed a shot past Barry at his near post.ends

              Nill de Pauw's second-half goal was enough to give Lokeren victory over Metalist Kharkiv in the battle between the bottom two sides in Europa League Group L.Both clubs were beaten in their opening fixtures, but Lokeren got their maiden group stage campaign up and running on Thursday night with a 1-0 victory at the Daknam stadium.Former Belgium Under-21 striker De Pauw settled an evenly-fought match with a fine curling shot in the 74th minute as Lokeren joined Trabzonspor on three points, three adrift of leaders Legia Warsaw.The first half saw last season's Belgian Cup winners and their Ukrainian visitors create several half-chances, but only rarely were the respective goalkeepers called into action.The closest either team came before the break was through Sergiy Bolbat, whose 34th-minute effort was snapped up by Lokeren keeper Boubacar Barry, and home forward Besart Abdurahimi, whose close-range shot on the stroke of half-time was saved by Vladimir Disljenkovic.Lokeren were indebted to Barry for keeping them level midway through the second half, though, with the Ivory Coast international doing well to tip over Cleiton Xavier's shot from the edge of the box.That was in the 67th minute and just seven minutes later the home side were celebrating what would prove to be the only goal of the game, De Pauw beating his man before curling his shot into the far bottom corner.Lokeren had a chance to extend their lead soon after, but Disljenkovic produced a superb parry to deny Abdurahimi. That kept Metalist in the game, but they could not find an equaliser during a stop-start finale to the match to remain without a point in Group L.ends

                Legia Warsaw 1-0 KSC Lokeren

                Miroslav Radovic ensured Legia Warsaw got their Europa League campaign off to a winning start.The Serbian winger scored the only goal in a 1-0 Group L victory at home to Lokeren.It was the least Henning Berg's side deserved for a dominant performance that should really have resulted in a bigger winning margin.That was surprising given Lokeren qualified for the group stages after a fine performance away to Hull, in which they got the away goal they needed to make it through.Perhaps armed with that knowledge, Legia started out as if to not let their opponents get a look in - a tactic that worked for the majority of the first half.Michal Zyro got them on the front foot with a left-footed shot that went just wide of the area, with the same man then having a volley well closed down by Alexander Scholz.Lokeren flickered briefly as Hans Vanaken got free in the area and eeked out an effort that Dusan Kuciak held on to.Zyro - looking to kick on this season after his international career with Poland stalled at Under-19 level - returned to the action again with another low drive that Dennis Odoi blocked.It was fast becoming a one-man show and Zyro's 30-yarder was brilliantly stopped by Boubacar Barry, with Tomasz Bryzski hitting wide from the subsequent corner.Radovic was the next man to take aim to no success, before Zyro ended the half with another shot that was mopped up by Barry.Legia's pressure pretty much demanded a goal and 58 minutes in it came. Michal Kucharczyk broke clear down the left, slipped a low pass in and Radovic was on the spot to put it in with Barry nowhere.Lokeren came back with an attempt of their own, Vanaken slotting wide when the ball landed with him just inside the area.Ivica Vrdoljak looked to make the game safe for Legia and fizzed in a strike from 25 yards that was well blocked, while Ayanda Patosi had a shot charged down for the visitors.There would be no more scoring, though, and Legia got what they deserved.ends
