Rogelio Funes Mori scored three goals as Monterrey defeated Morelia 4-0 on Sunday to secure a place in the 2017 Apertura Liga MX final against city rivals Tigres.

Monterrey won the series 5-0 on aggregate, while Tigres completed their 4-0 victory over Club America on Saturday to set up the first Clasico Regio Liga MX final in history.

Funes Mori latched onto a long ball from goalkeeper Hugo Gonzalez to open the scoring in the 10th minute. Morelia came close to equalizing nine minutes later from the penalty spot, but Peru international Raul Ruidiaz saw his effort saved by Gonzalez.

Funes Mori won a penalty one minute later and Carlos Sanchez netted to take the game beyond Morelia, with Argentine striker Funes Mori completing his hat trick with goals in the 29th and 53rd as Monterrey strolled to victory.

Monterrey finished the regular season in first place, with Tigres in second. The final games are scheduled to be played Thursday at Tigres' Estadio Universitario and Sunday in Estadio BBVA Bancomer.
