Phoenix had its three-game winning streak stopped, but extended its unbeaten streak to 10 games (7-0-3) with Wednesday's 1-1 tie at Anaheim. The Coyotes, who are off to the best start in franchise history, has not lost since a 2-1 setback at San Jose on October 12.

Despite the tie, Phoenix moved ahead of Colorado for the best point total in the NHL. They have 21 points to lead the Pacific, five ahead of Dallas.

Goaltender Sean Burke has been a key reason for Phoenix's hot start and his efforts earned him Player of the Month honors for October. He is 7-1-2 with a 1.47 goals-against average in 10 games this season.

The Coyotes have been especially hot at home, breaking another team mark by winning their first five games at America West Arena. The previous record was three set in 1993 and 1999.

Dallas ran into expansion Columbus at the perfect time as it blanked the Blue Jackets, 4-0, on Wednesday to snap a three-game losing streak. Joe Nieuwendyk scored twice in the victory, giving him three in as many games.

By posting his 51st career shutout Wednesday, Stars goaltender Ed Belfour moved even with David Kerr and Rogie Vachon for 16th place on the all-time list. He has the most among active goalies, three more than Colorado's Patrick Roy.

Dallas is 2-3 away from home this season, with its last road contest being a 4-3 overtime loss at St. Louis Saturday. It was 22-14-5 on the road in 1999-2000.

The Stars went 3-2-1 against the Coyotes last season, with all three wins coming here. They are 5-1 in their last six trips to American West Arena.
