BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- Goaltender Dominik Hasek goes
after his 200th career victory with the Buffalo Sabres tonight
as they face the struggling Montreal Canadiens at HSBC Arena.
"The Dominator" had a rough start to the season, going 0-4-1 in his first five decisions while also suffering a strained left knee liganment in the opener. He is 3-0 since then, allowing three goals on 71 shots. Buffalo has made life miserable for visiting opponents this season, going 4-0-1 through its first five home games. It is the Sabres best home stretch to start a season since the 1989-90 squad went 13-0-1 at Memorial Auditorium. Montreal appeared to be a team on the rise after going through a 4-1-2 stretch. But the Canadiens have hit a wall since then, getting swept in a home-and-home series with the New York Islanders before falling to Detroit, 4-2, on Wednesday. The Habs' offense has scored just six goals during its four-game winless streak (0-3-1-0) and has not tallied more than two in a contest since a 5-2 triumph against Carolina on October 21. The Canadiens are still searching for their first road victory of the season (0-4-1). Montreal defeated Buffalo at Molson Centre on October 17 behind Danius Zubrus' two goals and Martin Rucinsky's tally with 56 seconds remaining. The Canadiens went 2-1 here last season.
