GAME DAY PREVIEW Game time: 10:00pm ET
Pittsburgh at Vancouver

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- The Vancouver Canucks look to push their unbeaten streak to five games while continuing a surprising start tonight as they host the Pittsburgh Penguins.

SEASON SERIES
Nov. 3
Pittsburgh at Vancouver, 10:00pm ET

Vancouver improved to 2-0-2-0 over its last four games with Wednesday's 4-3 victory over Colorado. Defenseman Ed Jovanovski scored the eventual winning goal early in the third period and sent the GM Place into a frenzy by knocking out Avalanche winger Adam Deadmarsh during a fight.

Not much was expected from Vancouver this season after star center Mark Messier left via free agency to the New York Rangers. But the Canucks are off to the best start since 1993-94, the year they made it to the Stanley Cup Finals, and poised to snap a four-year playoff drought.

Replacing Messier are not one, but two young phenoms in Daniel and Henrik Sedin. Daniel scored on Wednesday and is third on the team with 10 points, two ahead of Henrik.

The Canucks are 4-1-1-1 at home this season.

Pittsburgh kicked off a three-game road trip with Wednesday's heartbreaking 3-2 loss at San Jose, its first road defeat of the season. The Penguins allowed Sharks' winger Jeff Friesen to score with 42 seconds left.

Pittsburgh played much better Thursday than its previous outing, an embarrassing 9-0 home loss against New Jersey on Saturday. The Penguins will be looking to avoid their first three-game losing streak of the season.

The Penguins' penalty killing unit ranks third in the NHL at 84.6 percent (55-for-65) but has yet to record a shorthanded goal this season.

Pittsburgh won the only meeting between the teams last season, 3-0 at Mellon Arena on February 14.
