Gators add hoops transfer Finney-Smith

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida coach Billy Donovan gained another big man for the 2013-14 season on Thursday with the addition of transfer Dorian Finney-Smith, according to ESPN senior national recruiting analyst Dave Telep.

The 6-foot-8, 192-pound Finney-Smith averaged 6.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as a freshman at Virginia Tech last season. He shot 33.2 percent from the floor and 36.2 percent from 3-point range and earned a spot on the ACC's All-Freshman team. He left the school after head coach Seth Greenberg was fired.

Finney-Smith, who was ESPN's No 18 overall recruit in 2011, is the second player to transfer to Florida in the last several weeks. Forward Damontre Harris (6-foot-9) picked UF after leaving South Carolina.

Both Finney-Smith and Harris will not be eligible to compete until the 2013-2014 season.
