STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Penn State wideout Geno Lewis, who graduated in December, announced Monday that he will transfer to Oklahoma for his final season of eligibility.
He was an important part of Penn State's offense in 2014, when he finished with 55 catches for 751 yards. But his role considerably decreased this past season with the emergence of All-Big Ten wideout Chris Godwin. Lewis, who will be a fifth-year player, had career lows of 17 catches and 196 yards in 2015.
"This was not an easy decision, but I feel like it is time to move on to the next chapter of my life," Lewis wrote on Twitter.

With the graduation of Oklahoma four-year starter Sterling Shepard, Lewis could be poised for a starting position and immediate playing time. At Penn State, it wouldn't have been a surprise to see his playing time drop off further in 2016, with several up-and-coming wideouts set to contribute.
Lewis follows in the footsteps of another former Penn State receiver, Justin Brown, who transferred to Oklahoma in 2012 for his final season. Brown more than doubled his receptions from the Lions to the Sooners, finishing with career highs in catches (73), yards (879) and touchdowns (5).
Lewis finishes his Penn State career with 90 catches for 1,181 yards and eight touchdowns.
"These last four years have been an incredible ride, and I wouldn't change anything," Lewis wrote on Twitter. "To all my teammates, I just want to say, from the sanctions to now, I wouldn't want to go through all of that with any other group. No one could ever break the brotherhood and support we have for each other."
