NittanyNation will look at offensive AFC players this morning and offensive NFC players this afternoon:
Pat Devlin, QB, Miami Dolphins
Height/weight/age: 6-3/225/24
Role: Third-string
PSU career: Devlin transferred to the University of Delaware after his redshirt sophomore season prior to the 2009 Rose Bowl. He passed for 459 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in his role as Daryll Clark's backup in 2008.
NFL career: Went undrafted in 2011 and hasn't yet attempted a career pass.He finished 13-of-20 for 118 yards with one touchdown and one interception against Carolina in Week 2 of the preseason.
Chris Hogan, WR, Miami Dolphins
Height/weight/age: 6-1/215/23
Role: Battling for a roster spot; fourth-string
PSU career: If the name doesn't sound familiar, that's because he didn't play football. Hogan was a lacrosse player who finished fourth on the team in goals (15) in 2009-2010 and then transferred to Monmouth University, where he played football for one year.
NFL career: Undrafted in 2011. Made it on a practice squad, got cut twice before landing with Miami. Has four receptions for 34 yards in the first two weeks of the preseason.
Bryant Johnson, WR, Houston Texans
Height/weight/age: 6-3/212/31
Role: Backup
PSU career: Johnson joined some good company (Bobby Engram, Derek Moye) by becoming one of only three PSU wideouts to have two seasons with at least 48 receptions. He helped lead the 2002 team to a No. 15 final ranking.
NFL career: Drafted in first round of 2003. Career is slowing down after playing in at least 14 games his first nine seasons. Has 314 receptions for his career for 3,938 yards and 16 touchdowns, but only had just six catches last season.
Jordan Norwood, WR, Cleveland Browns
Height/weight/age: 5-11/180/25
Role: Third-string
PSU career: Small, undersized player who some people thought only grabbed spot because his father, Brian, was the safeties coach. Boy, did Norwood prove them wrong. He boasted at least 30 receptions for four straight seasons and is fourth in career receptions with 158.
NFL career: Undrafted in 2009. Played in 14 games last season and had 23 catches for 268 yards. Has three catches for 28 yards through two preseason games.
Derrick Williams, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
Height/weight/age: 5-11/197/26
Role: Third-string
PSU career: One of the most-heralded high school prospects the Nittany Lions ever reeled in but fell short of lofty expectations. He was still a solid contributor, finishing third on list of career receptions leaders with 161.
NFL career: Drafted in third round of 2009. Waived by Detroit last September and signed in with the Steelers in January. Has nine career catches for 82 yards. No catches this preseason.
Dennis Landolt, OT, New York Jets
Height/weight/age: 6-4/206/25
Role: Injured; was battling for roster spot
PSU career: Three-year starter. Was a third-team All-American in 2009 and a first-team All-Big Ten in 2009.
NFL career: Went undrafted in 2010. Went from the Giants to the 49ers to the Jets to Saints and then back to the Jets. Injured his knee in early August and will likely miss the season.
A.Q. Shipley, C, Indianapolis Colts
Height/weight/age: 6-1/309/26
Role: Backup to five-year vet Samson Satele
PSU career: Rimington Trophy winner and All-America selection in 2008.
NFL career: Drafted in seventh round of 2009. Has played for the Steelers, Eagles and Colts. No career starts but played in first two preseason games this year.
Johnnie Troutman, OG, San Diego Chargers
Height/weight/age: 6-4/330/24
Role: Injured; was battling for third-string spot
PSU career: Three-year starter. All-Big Ten honorable mention as a senior.
NFL career: Drafted in fifth round earlier this year. Underwent surgery in April with a torn pectoral muscle and is expected to miss season. Also has some knee problems.
Stefen Wisniewski, C, Oakland Raiders
Height/weight/age: 6-3/307/23
Role: Starter
PSU career: Three-time ESPN Academic All-American as a three-year starter. 2010 All-America selection; two-time All-Big Ten selection.
NFL career: Drafted in second round of 2011. Started every game as a rookie; NFL Rookie of the Week in Week 3 of last season and was named to Pro Football Weekly's All-Rookie Team.
