MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings will try to solve the league's top-ranked pass defense without their best wide receiver.

Stefon Diggs will not play for the Vikings against the Houston Texans on Sunday because of the groin injury that kept him out of practice all week. The decision to keep Diggs inactive, in the Vikings' final game before their bye week, should give him plenty of time to heal before a potential matchup of undefeated teams Oct. 23 in Philadelphia. But it also means they'll have to adjust without him on Sunday.

The Vikings will start Jeremiah Sirles at right tackle with Andre Smith out because of a triceps injury, and they'll also be without tight ends David Morgan and Rhett Ellison because of knee injuries. Defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd will miss his fourth game of the season after having surgery to remove cartilage from his knee.
