LOS ANGELES -- More than 1,500 athletes gathered in one the country’s high school football hotbeds Saturday, out to prove that they truly are some of the best prospects out there. Here is a look at the 25 standout performers who make up the Los Angeles Nike SPARQ All-Combine Team.
Note: Selections are based upon combine performance as well as past and projected on-field performance. Athletes must have completed two of the four combine tests to be eligible for selection. Athletes are in the Class of 2014 unless otherwise noted.
OFFENSE
QB Derrick Becker, 5-foot-11, 174 pounds, Olympia (Wash.) Capital

Breakdown: Two-year starter has accounted for more than 2,300 yards passing and 25 touchdowns.
RB Aisea Tongilava, 6-0 ½, 204, Orange (Calif.) Lutheran
Results: 4.61 40, 4.37 shuttle, 38.0’ PB, 35.3” VJ, 105.45 SPARQ
Breakdown: Earned an all-league selection in one of Southern California’s toughest leagues.
RB Cole Casper (2015), 5-11, 176, Spanish Fork (Utah) Maple Mountain

Breakdown: Still has plenty of time but off to a good start with a great performance at the combine.

Breakdown: Huge junior season with 2,482 yards rushing, leading to offers from schools nationwide.

Breakdown: Second-team all-state selection by CalHiSports has been offered by multiple schools after rushing for 1,838 yards and 26 scores.
WR Addison Johnson, 5-8 ½, 169, Coeur d’Alene (Idaho) High
Results: 4.50 40, 4.34 shuttle, 35.0’ PB, 39.8” VJ, 104.76 SPARQ
Breakdown: Strong junior campaign with 48 catches for 755 yards and seven touchdowns.
TE Matthew Jacques, 6-2 ½, 198, Encino (Calif.) Crespi
Results: 4.78 40, 4.18 shuttle, 32.0’ PB, 30.1” VJ, 85.83 SPARQ
Breakdown: Versatile pass-catcher can line up anywhere with tremendous combination of speed and size.
OL Adrian Rodriguez (2015), 6-0, 261, Spanish Fork (Utah) High
Results: 5.02 40, 4.72 shuttle, 41' PB, 25.6" VJ, 88.11 SPARQ
Breakdown: Underclassman showed he has more than enough speed and explosiveness to make up for what he lacks in size. Was equally impressive at the Los Angeles Nike Football Training Camp the following day.

Breakdown: Strong overall performance was highlighted by second-highest power ball toss for an OL on the day.

Breakdown: Rangy prospect has some filling out to do, but he can straight up move. Has the frame to grow into a college tackle.
OL Zachary Robertson (2015), 6-4, 298, Lakewood (Calif.) Mayfair

Breakdown: He already looks the part of a collegiate offensive lineman. A big junior season should make him a hot commodity next year.

Breakdown: Was a 2012 Orange County Register third-team All-Orange County selection.

Breakdown: The story of the weekend. His Nike Combine performance led to a late invite to the Nike Camp, where he continued to shine. On Monday night his performance was rewarded by his first scholarship offer, from UCLA.
DL Grant Thompson, 6-3, 202, Gilbert (Ariz.) Highland
Results: 4.76 40, 4.54 shuttle, 35.5' PB, 30.6" VJ, 81.51 SPARQ
Breakdown: The Division 1 all-state honorable mention pick had the fastest 40 for a defensive lineman on the day.
DL Michael Hughes Jr., 6-2, 280, Las Vegas Palo Verde
Results: 5.18 40, 4.91 shuttle, 37' PB, 25.3" VJ, 74.40 SPARQ
Breakdown: Well-built defensive tackle displayed explosive athleticism for a 280-pound prospect. Reports a Duke offer.
DL Hanani Aiono, 6-4, 257, Salt Lake City Skyline

Breakdown: After missing his junior season due to transferring schools, Aiono used the Nike Combine to make a splash before his senior season.
