Sooners' Marquise Brown suffers apparent ankle/foot injury

Oklahoma receiver Marquise Brown was carted from the sideline to the locker room after suffering an injury to his left ankle/foot area and did not return to the Big 12 Championship game Saturday.

Coach Lincoln Riley said after the Sooners' 39-27 victory against the Texas Longhorns that he didn't have any details about Brown's injury other than it being "a lower body injury."

Brown, an All-Big 12 selection and the Sooners' leading receiver, took a big hit after a catch near the end of the third quarter. He limped to the bench, where he stayed until the cart picked him up early in the fourth quarter.

He appeared on the Sooners' sideline late in the game, wearing street clothes and on crutches with a boot on his left ankle.

Brown had been battling an ankle sprain for much of the season.

He finished with five catches for 54 yards against the Longhorns as the Sooners won their fourth consecutive Big 12 title. For the season, Brown has 75 receptions, 1,318 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.
