ODU's Bobby Wilder gets new deal

NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion football coach Bobby Wilder has signed a new five-year contract that carries through the 2017 season.

Athletic director Wood Selig announced the deal Tuesday. He says Wilder's success in building a winning program at Old Dominion since the school decided to reinstate football five years ago, and the program's climb to Bowl Subdivision status beginning this season, were factors.

The Monarchs are 38-10 in four seasons and qualified for the NCAA playoffs in both seasons they were eligible.

Selig says Wilder was paid $400,000 last season and will receive raises averaging $50,000 the next three years.

This season they begin the process of upgrading to FBS status. They will compete as members of Conference USA beginning in 2015.
