Rain, go away

ATHENS, Ga. -- Rain over the weekend caused the Georgia coaching staff to cancel the team scrimmage they had planned for Saturday. The lost practice time also interfered with the coaches' plans to use the scrimmage as the central part of their third junior day of the 2014 recruiting cycle.

This junior day was a quiet affair, open only to a few select recruits personally invited by the coaching staff. But with more than two inches of rain recorded in Athens on Saturday and Sunday, some top targets decided to visit another time. Miserable weather and a cancelled practice are not the best ways to sell the program to prospects, but the Georgia staff made the best of it.

Count ESPN Watch List defensive tackle Kendall Baker (Atlanta/Marist) among those who thought the canceled scrimmage was a hidden blessing.
