New Zealand made it closer in the end than it looked when Gayle and Samuels struck centuries to boost West Indies to 315. New Zealand did not allow them to get away at the death, and Watling put in another fighting performance, so did KW, but clearly, this line-up hardly looked as if it was going to chase 316. West Indies now lead the five-match series 2-0 with the final three ODIs to be played in St Kitts.
Kane Williamson: "We struggled a little bit with the ball, Gayle again... and Samuels as well, but we improved with the bat. We tried to leave ourselves 100 off the last 10, but we had lost too many wickets. BJ Watling played well again. I think today's performance showed that we have players that we can play, the difference was that their guys made 100s and we made 50s. They have played outstandingly, and to beat them we have to be at the top of our game."
Darren Sammy: "Everybody looks in good form, and every day some one stands up for us whcih is good for the team. Our openers in the past haven't given us the start we wanted, the way Chris has played out the new ball has been brilliant. Last match it was Russell, today it was Ravi, Sunil continues to bowl well. The selectors have a rotation policy in place, I myself may get a rest, we'll see what happens."
Man of the Match is Marlon Samuels: "I'd like to say 'Happy anniversary to my people, my entire country'. I'm getting opportunities now. Chris has been a part of life for a large part of my life, I always enjoy batting with him."
