Scorecard

Charlotte Edwards, captain of England Women, struck an unbeaten century to ensure an overwhelming 181-run victory against New Zealand Emerging Players Women in the opening match of their New Zealand tour.

England Women have three warm-up matches against New Zealand Emerging Players in Lincoln, ahead of the international series involving five Twenty20s and three ODIs, and Edwards made the first of them a mismatch. She struck 17 boundaries in her 123 before retiring out with 11 of the 50 overs remaining.

Anya Shrubsole, a 20-year-old from Bath, was the most successful of England's bowlers, taking two wickets with the new ball and returning to take the last three New Zealand wickets in seven balls, one courtesy of an outstanding catch by Jenny Gunn at mid-on, to finish with remarkable figures of 5 for 5.

England and NZEP now switch to the Twenty20 format with further warm-ups at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval on Monday and Tuesday.
