5:33pm This was also Harmanpreet Kaur's 100th game as T20I captain, and she could not have hoped for a better outcome. She has now become only the second women's cricketer to captain her nation in 100 T20Is, behind Meg Lanning.

5:13pm After the heartbreak at last year's Commonwealth Games and the T20 World Cup semi-final defeat earlier this year, the Indian women's cricket team have finally laid their hands on the big prize. Their batting did not particularly blow Sri Lanka out of the water but it ensured that their bowlers had something to bowl at.

Titas Sadhu was the star of the show with the ball, picking up three wickets in her first spell and knocking the wind out of the Sri Lankan sails. Her spell also included the scalp of Athapaththu, which set the Sri Lankans back considerably. The spinners then did their bit, squeezing the Sri Lankan batters and forcing them to take risks.

Speaking of Sri Lanka, there were patches where they seemed in the hunt, especially when de Silva and Perera were at the crease together. Once the latter perished, though, it was a struggle. That sort of sums up their batting performance - moments that promised much, but were undermined by losing crucial wickets at vital junctures.

Comes down the track, looking to maul it over cow corner but is not to the pitch of the ball. Swings way too early and the ball spoons up off the leading edge. All she manages, though, is an outside edge that flies past the keeper. Short third cuts it off and fires it back at the stumps as Dilhari tries to scamper back for the second. Stretches every sinew and just about makes it! From one angle, it seemed she had made it, but from another, it looked touch-and-go. In the end, the umpire made the right decision!
