END OF OVER:
20 | (wicket maiden) | ST: 113/10 (28 runs required from 5 balls, RR: 5.89, RRR: 33.60)

  • Gurinder Sandhu4 (7b)
  • Cameron Boyce3.1-1-17-2
  • Harry Gurney4-0-21-1

10.27pm This was the ninth meeting between these two sides, and the eighth victory for the Renegades. For the first 18 overs of this game the Thunder were utterly dominant, but that man Cameron Boyce played a sensational match-turning innings, an unbeaten 51 off 22, and suddenly the Renegades had a more than decent total to defend. Pretty disappointing chase from the Thunder, apart from their debutant keeper Baxter Holt, in batting conditions that actually seemed to have improved.

So the Renegades move up to 16 points, solidifying their bid for a semi-finals spot. They have just one league match to go now, against the table-topping Hobart Hurricanes. Lots of twists and turns left in this season, and we'll bring you all of them. Do keep tuning in. Until next time, good night!

19.1
W
Boyce to Fawad Ahmed, OUT, and, appropriately enough, he's the man to end it. Fawad steps out, and he fires it wide. Beats the desperate reach-out drive, and Harper does the rest

Fawad Ahmed st †Harper b Boyce 1 (3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 33.33

The Renegades made 39 off their last two overs. The Thunder now need 28 off their last over. Here's Boyce, appropriately enough

1
Gurney to Fawad Ahmed, 1 run, back of a length outside off. Looks to dab it behind point, only manages an inside edge into the leg side

Round the wicket to Fawad.

1
Gurney to Sandhu, 1 run, another slower ball, slapped down to long-off
18.4
1lb
Gurney to Fawad Ahmed, 1 leg bye, slower ball, back of a length, looks for the lap-sweep and only manages to get his thigh pad on it. Rolls away into the backward square leg region
18.3
W
Gurney to Sandhu, OUT, slower length ball, leg-stumpish. Looks to flick, and only manages to edge into his pad. And that's followed by a collision and a run-out. Both batsmen were converging on the same side of the pitch, and Gurney was also moving in that direction to get to the ball. He manages to sneak between the two batsmen, and ends up unsighting both of them. They collide, leaving Cook sprawled on the pitch, and he picks up the ball and completes the run out at the keeper's end

JD Cook run out 2 (4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

18.2
1
Gurney to Cook, 1 run, slower ball, quite full, on off stump, swiped away through square leg
18.1
0
Gurney to Cook, no run, right up there on middle and leg, jabbed firmly back to the bowler

Gurney to bowl the 18th.

What a spell from Christian: four overs, 1 for 9.

1
Christian to Cook, 1 run, looks for the dipping yorker, ends up as a low full-toss on the legs, and Cook clips it to short fine leg
17.5
0
Christian to Cook, no run, in the blockhole once more. Looks to flick and all he manages is an inside-edge into his pads

Jonathan Cook.

W
Christian to Sams, OUT, boom, off stump pegged back. Full offcutter, and it's too full for the cleared-front-leg big hit over the leg side. Past the inside edge and it's bye bye Daniel Sams

DR Sams b Christian 10 (13b 1x4 0x6) SR: 76.92

17.3
1b
Christian to Sandhu, 1 bye, another yorker angling across the left-hander, also the slower one this time. Swipes at it, looking to go leg side, and misses, but there's enough time to steal a bye
17.2
0
Christian to Sandhu, no run, in the blockhole just outside off, jabs at it and misses
17.1
0
Christian to Sandhu, no run, back of a length slower ball, slanting away from off stump. Looks to make room and cut, misses

34 off the last three. That's doable with wickets in hand, but the Thunder are seven down. Here's Christian, from right-arm over to Sandhu.

Gurney to Sams, no run, slower length ball wide of off stump, slapped straight to point

Round the wicket.

16.5
0
Gurney to Sams, no run, stays back to a length ball slanting away from off stump, looks for the old-fashioned late cut. Can't make contact
16.4
1
Gurney to Sandhu, 1 run, full, close to off stump, whipped to long-on
16.4
1w
Gurney to Sandhu, 1 wide, short, wide, off-pace. Keeps low, barely gets to Sandhu on the first bounce, and it also leaves him off the pitch. No way he can connect with that cut
16.3
2
Gurney to Sandhu, 2 runs, slower ball, back of a length outside off. The left-handed Sandhu lets it come on and guides it down to third man

Gurinder Sandhu is the new man. Can he make this interesting?
