5.27pm David Warner: "It was a great game, but at the end a tad disappointing from our side. I want to pay credit to Sabbir, the way he came out and played. And obviously Pooran finished it off. 194 was above par and very defendable. But if you give four chances, you're going to have a tough time defending. And obviously they had the injection of AB, a world-class player around the world. The crowd is fantastic, I'm extremely grateful to BCB to let me come here and play. Great atmosphere. Hopefully my team can keep winning some games. We need to address some situations, one obviously being the bowling towards the end. General match awareness, not all guys are watching the captain all the time. The guys are giving it their all, there's no doubt about that."
Rilee Rossouw is the man of the match. Rode his luck but made 61 important runs. "It was a good game, unbelievable entertaining. The boys chased down a total, which we though they got maybe 10 runs too much. But serious team performance today. Got to give credit to our boys for keeping their nerve. The boys at the back end finished it very well."
Mashrafe Mortaza: "If we had lost this, we might have been out of the tournament. We chose the difficult way to win, but it's nice, we got our confidence back. We can play the next match with confidence. Our batting depth is not very strong, but our top four are the most destructive players in the world. So we had the confidence that if we can score 60-65 in the Powerplay without losing wickets we can win, because AB is there. We are lucky enough that we could finish. The last few matches we couldn't. Today was 50-50, credit to Farhad for the way he hit."
5.15pm Thrilling match, but Sixers might rue their fielding lapses. Those might have cost them the game. Otherwise, if you have eight overs of Mohammad Irfan and Sandeep Lamichhane and 194 to defend, you should be winning 9 times out of 10. Not to speak of four overs from Taskin Ahmed.
AB de Villiers begins his BPL career with a win. "I was seeing the ball nicely. I always love finishing games in those situations, unfortunately didn't happen. But great win for the team. Great crowd and atmosphere. The wicket is a little bit low, the way I got out kind of surprised me, skidded off the deck. But I've played all around the world and am experienced enough to adjust. But like I said, it means a lot to the team that we pulled through."
The sun is setting. Over Sylhet and over Sylhet Sixers. Only 5 needed off the last over
