Simon Storey is to leave his role as Derbyshire chief executive for the same role at Kent.
Storey, who joined Derbyshire in 2012, has overseen impressive growth in the club's commercial revenue and managed a significant ground redevelopment.
While he has been unable to inspire any improvement in the club's on-field fortunes, he has developed a fine reputation as a representative for the non-Test-hosting counties and is widely respected among administrators in the game. His family roots are also in Kent which is understood to have been a factor in the decision.
Ryan Duckett, who has served as Commercial Director since 2014, has been appointed Interim Chief Executive at Derbyshire.
Ben Green, meanwhile, who has been CEO at Kent since February, will move back to the position of chief operating officer. Paul Downton will continue in his role as director of cricket.
"It has been a difficult decision to leave Derbyshire after almost seven years," Storey said. "The Club has moved forward on so many fronts and I would like to say a big thank you to all the people who have supported me during my time as Chief Executive and backed the Club's vision and pursuit of cricketing success.
"The opportunity to lead the growth of the game across the entire Kent Cricket network including community, recreational and professional cricket, and to move back closer to my family roots, is one that I could not turn down."
