It is the 50-year-old's first job since stepping down as Wales manager in June 2022.

The former United star, who was appointed Wales boss in 2018, resigned from his post after being charged for the assault of his ex-girlfriend, Kate Greville, and her sister.

Giggs was accused of controlling or coercive behaviour toward Greville, between Aug. 2017 and Nov. 2020. He was also accused of assaulting her as well as assaulting Greville's sister, Emma, during an argument at his home outside Manchester on Nov. 2020.

He denied the allegations and was eventually cleared of them in July 2023 when charges were withdrawn by the prosecutors at a hearing at Manchester Crown Court.

While Salford haven't formally announced Giggs in the role, a club statement on the appointment of Alex Bruce as assistant coach in February mentioned Giggs as the director of football.

Salford are 20th in League Two, four places off the bottom of the table.
