The writing was on the wall well before Texas A&M made it official on Friday, but the Aggies are moving on from Billy Kennedy. There were rumors about a parting of ways late last season, but Kennedy guided A&M to its second Sweet 16 appearance in three seasons and earned another year in College Station in the process.
After losing three starters from last season and then losing guard Admon Gilder for the season, there was too much to overcome for Kennedy and the Aggies this season. They lost to Texas Southern and UC Irvine at home during nonconference play, then lost eight of their first nine SEC games.
A loss to Mississippi State in the SEC tournament on Thursday sealed Kennedy's fate. The two sides parted ways after eight seasons for Kennedy in College Station.
