Davidson-Pittsburgh showdown at MSG highlights Gotham Classic

NEW YORK -- Defending Atlantic 10 champion Davidson and Pittsburgh, which both return four starters from last season, will meet in the Showcase Round of the fourth annual Gotham Classic at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 20.

Eastern Washington, Morehead State, and Western Carolina complete the field for the 10-game event, in which all five teams play each other. The event runs from Dec. 9-23.

Davidson and Pittsburgh will each host three games in addition to playing each other at MSG, and the other schools will host one each.

Pittsburgh and Davidson have played five times, the last on Jan. 9, 1974, a 90-63 win for Pitt. The Panthers went 25-4 that season, reaching the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

Bob McKillop enters his 27th season as Davidson's coach and comes into the season four wins shy of 500, all with the Wildcats.
