Dedrique Taylor to Cal State Fullerton

Cal State Fullerton will name Arizona State associate head coach Dedrique Taylor as its next head coach, sources told ESPN.com

An announcement is expected next week once contract details are finalized.

Taylor has been with Herb Sendek at ASU since 2006. Prior to that, Taylor had coached at Nevada, Portland State, Loyola Marymount and UC Davis. He played at UC Davis as well as two junior colleges and is a native of California, growing up in Pomona.

Taylor replaces Fullerton interim coach Andy Newman, who guided the Titans to a 14-18 record overall, 6-12 in the Big West. Newman was the interim coach, replacing Bob Burton last season.

Taylor has long been respected as one of the top recruiters in the West with strong ties to the Los Angeles area, thought to be a key component in winning at Fullerton.
