Royce O'Neale granted waiver

Baylor will have the services of Denver transfer Royce O'Neale this season.

The school announced that the 6-foot-6, 220-pound guard, who averaged 11.2 points and 5.5 rebounds last season for Joe Scott, received a waiver to play this season for the Bears.

O'Neale is from Killeen, Texas, and wanted to play closer to his ailing grandfather. Killeen is about an hour from Waco.

This is a significant addition for Baylor -- which lost guards Deuce Bello (Missouri) and L.J. Rose (Houston) to transfer this past offseason. O'Neale started all 32 games last season, and he will bring versatility to the Bears.

The Bears return three starters -- big men Isaiah Austin and Cory Jefferson as well as shooting guard Brady Heslip.
