Giants agree with pick Justin Pugh

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants agreed to terms with their last two unsigned rookie draft picks, Justin Pugh and Ryan Nassib, on Thursday.

The team announced the signings the day before the Giants report to training camp. Co-owner John Mara told reporters at a news conference in the morning that he was confident both Pugh and Nassib would be signed shortly and be in camp Friday.

"They're pretty close," Mara said at a news conference announcing a new partnership between Quest Diagnostics and the Giants. "I'm not worried about that. I think they'll both be here."

Pugh, college teammates with Nassib at Syracuse, was selected 19th overall. The tackle/guard is in the mix to compete for the starting right tackle job.

Veteran David Diehl, Pugh and James Brewer will compete for the lone opening spot on the offensive line.

Nassib, the team's fourth-round selection, will compete with David Carr to back up Eli Manning. There is the possibility the Giants could keep three quarterbacks, though, if deemed necessary.
