Ducks look for boost from Nick Ritchie, Michael Sgarbossa

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Ducks have recalled top prospect Nick Ritchie and center Michael Sgarbossa from the AHL.

The Ducks also assigned left winger Max Friberg and defenseman Korbinian Holzer to their affiliate in San Diego on Saturday and placed center Chris Wagner on waivers.

The Ducks found themselves in desperate need of more offense after scoring a league-low 28 goals through their first 17 games.

Ritchie was the 10th overall pick in the 2014 draft. The 19-year-old forward had nine goals in 12 games in San Diego to begin his first pro season.

He made his debut in Monday night's 4-1 win at Carolina with no goals in 10:39 of ice time.

Sgarbossa was Ritchie's center in San Diego.

Wagner was scoreless with 17 penalty minutes in 11 games for Anaheim. Friberg was scoreless in five games, and Holzer had one assist in seven games.
