New Zealand rugby great Dan Carter says he is prepared to face the legal consequences after admitting to drink driving.
Carter has apologised for the offence in Paris this week in which he was pulled over by police near the Champs-Elysees and charged after testing at twice the legal limit.
Carter's blood alcohol measurement was reportedly 0.98g/l, when the limit is 0.5g/l.
He had also forgotten his driver's licence according to a report in the French magazine which broke the story on Friday.
The 34-year-old owned up to the offence online.
First five-eighth Carter is in the second season of a stint at Paris club Racing 92.
The 34-year-old shifted to France following the 2015 World Cup where he played a starring role, ending his decorated career at 112 Tests.
He holds the record for the most points in Tests with 1598.
Carter had a brush with controversy late last year when he and clubmates Joe Rokocoko and Juan Imhoff tested positive for taking a banned substance.
They were later cleared of any wrongdoing by the French Rugby Federation which said corticosteroids were legally used under the Therepeutic Use Exemption rules to aid injury recovery.
