Joe Marler will discover his Six Nations fate Tuesday evening after the Harlequins prop and Sale back row TJ Ioane were both called to appear in front of a disciplinary panel.

Marler, 27, is a doubt for the start of England's championship defence having been shown a red card for striking Ioane with his shoulder during his club side's defeat to Sale Saturday.

The incident occurred as the Harlequins front row cleared out a ruck in the 58th minute at the AJ Bell Stadium and carries a potential ban of between two and 10 weeks.

Should Marler be handed a mid-range (six weeks) or top end suspension then he would be ruled out of at least England's first two matches of this year's tournament, against Italy in Rome and Wales at Twickenham.

Ioane, meanwhile, has been charged with striking Marler with his arm five minutes previously. If found guilty, the Sale forward faces missing between two and eight weeks of action.
