England flanker Tom Curry will miss the rest of the November internationals after being ruled out with an ankle injury.

Curry limped off shortly after half time in England's 12-11 win against South Africa at Twickenham on Saturday before leaving the stadium on crutches.

He was accessed by England's medical team on Monday, with head coach Eddie Jones saying it would be "highly unlikely" that he would feature against New Zealand this weekend.

But the result of the medical assessment was even worse than originally feared, forcing Curry to miss England's games against Japan and Australia -- as well as Saturday's All Blacks clash.

Courtney Lawes and Manu Tuilagi are expected to be fit after missing the Springboks match due to injury, while Sam Underhill is expected to fill in at No.7.

England's forwards coach Steve Borthwick confirmed Curry's injury when speaking to the media on Tuesday

"Tom Curry is not available this week and he'll be ruled out for the rest of the series as well," Borthwick said.

"He injured his ankle but beyond that we don't know how long he'll be out for, but for the next three Test matches he'll be unavailable for us.

"He's a fantastic young player, you saw that in the summer and you saw it at the weekend.

"He's got a really fantastic future ahead of him. It's disappointing but whenever there's an injury it is an opportunity for you as a player to improve and get better.

"We've got a lot of options there," Borthwick said of his back row. "We've got a lot of versatility with Sam [Underhill], Mark Wilson and Zach Mercer. who has played all across the back row.

"Sam's an excellent player, a real tough defender, he hits hard and he's in great physical shape."
