Six Nations: Scotland lose Maitland and Harris ahead of Wales clash

Scotland backs Sean Maitland and Chris Harris have both been ruled out of Saturday's Six Nations match against Wales due to injury, the Scottish Rugby Union said on Tuesday.

Maitland and Harris suffered foot and calf injuries respectively while playing for their Premiership clubs last weekend, with insufficient time to recover before the clash with Wales at Murrayfield.

Winger Maitland will return to Saracens for treatment while Harris will be sent back to the Newcastle Falcons.

The injuries are another blow to Gregor Townsend's side, who are missing several key players including Stuart Hogg, Ryan Wilson and Huw Jones for the visit of the tournament leaders.

Townsend is set to name his starting XV on Thursday, with No. 10 Finn Russell expected to return after missing Scotland's defeat to France due to concussion.

Hamish Watson, Willem Nel and Sam Skinner are also in contention to return after being named in Scotland's training squad on Monday.
