Petra Kvitova has been ruled out of the Czech Republic's opening matches of the Fed Cup final against the USA.
The world No. 7 has been struggling with illness ahead of the final in Prague and will not be risked for the singles matches on Saturday.
Instead Barbora Strycova will represent the Czechs against Sofia Kenin in the opening match, followed by Katerina Siniakova against Alison Riske, according to the draw made on Friday.
Kvitova joins Karolina Pliskova on the sidelines after she was forced to withdraw from the final with calf and wrist injuries.
But the two-time Wimbledon champion could yet return for Sunday's reverse singles if she recovers.
The Czech Republic are looking to extend their amazing Fed Cup record after winning the tournament five times since 2010.
They were champions in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016, with Kvitova a crucial part of all five victories.
The USA won the title last year, defeating the Czech Republic in the semifinals, but face an uphill task to end the home side's 10-tie winning streak in Prague.
Kvitova recovered from career-threatening tendon injuries in her hand following a knife attack in Dec. 2016.
In 2018 she has won five WTA titles and briefly re-entered the top five in the world.
