Three-time MVP Lisa Leslie is floating interest in becoming the WNBA's next president as the league continues its search for a new leader. The eight-time All-Star discussed interest in the position during an interview centered on her future guest starring role in ABC's "Speechless."
"It's something that I am seriously considering to throw my name in for as well," Leslie said during a phone interview.
The WNBA's top position has been vacant since October, following the resignation of Lisa Borders after three years in the role. NBA deputy commissioner Mark Tatum is the interim president.
"I feel like I could continue to help guide us in the right direction," said Leslie, who was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015. "I want for the league to be successful and have the best president possible, someone who wants to stay and help it to grow."
Leslie played 12 seasons in the WNBA and won two championships, all with the Los Angeles Sparks. She also won four Olympic gold medals with the U.S. national team.
Since retiring in 2009, Leslie has stayed in the sports world, co-hosting the "We Need to Talk" show on CBS Sports Network. She has also worked for Fox Sports Florida as a studio analyst for Orlando Magic broadcasts.
