Pujals sparks Holy Cross to 5 unanswered TDs, 42-20 win
NEW YORK -- Peter Pujals completed a key pass to Blaise Bell on fourth-and 9 late in the first half and Holy Cross scored on the next play to begin a stretch of five unanswered touchdowns and roll to a 42-20 come-from-behind win at Fordham Saturday.
One play after the fourth-down conversion, Gabe Guild scored on a 15-yard run forging a 14-14 tie minutes before halftime. The Crusaders (4-6, 3-2 Patriot League) then dominated in the second half, scoring four unanswered touchdowns, rolling up 354 yards rushing -- most since 2013 -- and grinding out drives of 76, 98, 80 and 82 yards. Holy Cross remains in the thick of the Patriot League title chase.
Pujals completed 15 of 25 passes for 175 yards and TDs to Bell and Jayke Simsheuser.
Chase Edmonds carried 20 times for 63 yards and two touchdowns for Fordham (3-7, 2-3). Edmonds became the Patriot League's career rushing leader with 5,677 yards and the Patriot's all-purpose yards leader with 7,184.
