Alcorn St. clinches SWAC East title in 59-0 win over MVSU

LORMAN, Miss. -- Noah Johnson threw for three touchdowns and ran in two more Saturday to lead Alcorn State to a 59-0 win over Mississippi Valley State, clinching the Southwest Athletic Conference East Division title for a fourth straight season.

Johnson went 12-for-19 passing for 297 yards with an interception, and added 122 yards on the ground, including 37- and 33-yard touchdown runs. All three of his TD throws were to Norlando Veals, who finished with nine receptions for 253 yards.

De'Lance Turner had 171 yards with 18 carries for Alcorn State (7-3, 5-1), which will be the first team in conference history to play in four consecutive SWAC championship games.

Mississippi Valley State (2-8, 1-5) had a negative-11 rushing yards for the game and finished with 215 overall to Alcorn State's combined 746.

Dewayne Betts was 10-for-24 passing for 158 yards and three interceptions for MVSU.
