Hamm has only TD, McNeese beats SE Louisiana 13-3

LAKE CHARLES, La. -- David Hamm cut over right tackle and broke free for a 43-yard sprint for the game's only touchdown as McNeese edged Southeastern Louisiana, 13-3 on Saturday.

It was all defense and field goals until Hamm's run with 4:26 left in the game. Gunnar Raborn nailed field goals of 37 and 30 yards in the third quarter to give the Cowboys (7-2, 5-2 Southland Conference) the lead.

Southeastern Louisiana's Dillion Burckhard kicked a 22-yarder late in the first half for a 3-0 advantage.

McNeese's Dominique Hill had an interception and was in on 13 tackles as the defense swarmed the Lions (5-5, 5-3) who had just 176 total yards -- 99 passing and 77 rushing. They average 307.8 yards rushing a game.

The Lions were stingy too, holding McNeese to 284 total yards -- 195 passing and 89 rushing.

Hamm finished with 80 yards rushing on 17 carries.

Lorenzo Lee Nunez led the Lions, throwing for 99 yards.
